From the Cross to the Grave…
“Joseph (a rich man from Arimathea) took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock…” – Matthew 27:59
Here E is rolling up K in a clean linen (aka crib sheet) and placing her inside the TOMB (aka playhouse).
“He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.” — Matthew 27:59-60
This tub was in the right place at the right time and quickly got assigned the role of the “big stone”.
Check out these TOMB related activities we made:
The kids made these TOMB scenes last year with their cousin R.
Matterials: Construction paper, scissors and glue.
If you’re on Pinterest, you’ve probably seen some amazing TOMB cakes floating around. Instead of making a cake, I used some ingredients we had on hand to make this super fun lunch for my trio:
Ingredients: Half Bagel with cream cheese, 1 Ritz cracker for boulder, 1 slice of Ham cut into a cross, and a side of fruit. The kids ate it up, literally!
This TOMB Garden was a blast to make:
Materials: Shallow planter or bowl, small pot or cup for tomb, dirt, grass or moss from outside, 1 rock to cover the TOMB, a swatch of white linen, sticks and yarn for crosses.
You can find more examples and instructions here or here.
My trio enjoyed sitting around this garden while we read the Resurrection story in Matthew 27 & 28.
Aren’t you thankful that the story does not end here in the TOMB?
Then… “there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone…” - Matthew 28:2
