Wow, we’ve finally learned all 10 Commandments!
Here’s the Recap:
I am so proud of my kids who have memorized all the hand motions and in order! Even I still have to pause to think but they are quick! It’s a great activity to entertain your kids while in the car for a long period of time. :)
But what I hope that we have really learned through these lessons is this:
It all comes down to LOVE.
“The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “LOVE your neighbor as yourself.” LOVE does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore LOVE is the fulfillment of the law.” – Romans 13:9-10
AND
“Jesus replied: “‘LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘LOVE your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:37-40
NOW WHAT?
What are we to do with these commandments?
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says:
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home…
and when you walk along the road…
when you lie down…
and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands…
and bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the doorposts of your houses…
and on your gates.”
We had so much fun acting out this verse and learning that LOVE should go with us wherever we go and be with us whatever we do.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:7&8

I also recommend the new “What’s in the Bible” DVD series by Phil Vischer, the creator of Veggie Tales. Especially lessons 2 & 3 which reference Exodus and the 10 Commandments!
Thanks for following along with us!
Keep Choosing Today, keep rejoicing for this is the day that Lord has made!

Outstanding! I love this, and it’s so great to see your children illustrate each one with the symbols they’ve learned. What a great way to teach your kids God’s Word.
The lessons may be for children, but this has been such a great review for one as old as me! The photos are marvelous visuals and have been a fun way to remember these things…especially in your concluding lesson. You are an amazing teacher, for your children and us adults who are reading along on your blog. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up next :). Thanks!
You are my hero.
